Rydges Wellington & Portlander will temporarily close from 30 April to undergo a room refurbishment and seismically strengthen the building, with works expected to be complete by October 2022.

The work will primarily focus on a refurbishment of the hotel’s upper floors and bathrooms, the lifts and seismically strengthening the building to bring it up to an A-grade standard. The building is currently safe under the current B-grade rating, however we are taking the opportunity to complete further strengthening work while room refurbishments are in progress.

Guest experience is always our highest priority, so we decided that closing the hotel and restaurant for a short period would have less impact overall and will allow us to provide the very best experience that our guests have come to expect from us when we reopen.

The works have been fast-tracked, and the property will return to trading later in the year to align with international borders reopening and business returning to the City.
